Important Dates for Admission

Application Information

A minimum of 30 students must be admitted for the program to be offered. UHM Nursing will admit cohorts in cooperation with employers as requested. Application fees are not refundable.

Admission Requirements

Completion of an associate degree in a nursing program

Current RN license and 2 or more years experience as an RN

Completion of the Prerequisite UH Cross Listed Courses:  UH students should see their respective advisors for more information.

  • 1 FW course (e.g. ENG 100)
  • 1 FS course (e.g. MATH 100, PHIL 110)
  • 2 FG courses from different groups (e.g. HIST 151 and REL 150)
  • 2 DA/H/L courses from different groups (e.g. ART 101 and ENG 270)
  • 2 DS courses from different departments (e.g. PSY 100 and HDFS 230)
  • 7 credits of Natural Sciences (e.g. CHEM 152, PHYL 141/L, and MICR 130)
  • 2 Writing Intensive designated Focus courses

Check the UH System Course Transfer Database (http://www.hawaii.edu/transferdatabase/li) and cross-reference their equivalent courses with the UH Mānoa General Catalog for designations. Information on these requirements can be found in the UH Mānoa General Catalog, UHM advising centers, and online at www.catalog.hawaii.edu. Applicants should be aware that evaluations for program admissions are subject to official evaluations by the Mānoa Office of Admissions

English Language Proficiency: If an applicant’s native language is not English or has not obtained a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an English speaking college, then the applicant must submit official Test of English a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores with a minimum score of 600.
 

Note for International Students

Distance Education Course Restrictions:  Immigration regulations restrict enrollment in online distance education courses that require that all coursework be completed on-line.  However, immigration regulations do not restrict enrollment in hybrid distance education courses that require that coursework be completed through a combination of online and in-classroom coursework. International students enrolling in online distance education courses must adhere to the following guidelines per level of study in order to maintain immigration status.
