Bio:

The focus of Dr. Richardson’s work has been development and teaching the maternal-newborn nursing course and clinical lab for the undergraduate generic and accelerated BS nursing programs. Health promotion and maintenance for the childbearing family is examined through multiple aspects (physiologic, cultural, environmental, and behavioral). To provide depth to the experience, each student is mentored while developing a community teaching project for an individual client/family whose delivery due date falls during the semester.

She currently provides service to the university as the elected representative from the Department of Nursing to the University of Hawai‘i Manoa Faculty Senate (2007-2009). She serves on the Department of Nursing, undergraduate curriculum committee representing the maternal-newborn course.

In 2007, Dr. Richardson was presented with the Education Award by Sigma Theta Tau Gamma Psi Chapter-At-Large. She received a Travel Award from Research & Training for a Podium Presentation at the Western Institute for Nursing in 2007. In 2004, she was recognized for 20 years of service with the State of Hawai`i. The Western Institute of Nursing recognized Dr. Richardson with Outstanding Service on the Board for her role as a PhD student Representative to the Board of Governors in 2002.
