Learning Laboratory Schedule

Individual or group skills practice can be scheduled around the Learning Laboratory Schedule for formally scheduled classes.  Webster 309B can be used for individual practice.  You are encouraged to call the Learning Lab Office at 956-5327 to make an appointment by first viewing the Learning Laboratory Schedule at the Learning Laboratory Website before requesting a room.  The Learning Laboratory faculty will try to accommodate your request.

Skills Practice

This is time, other than formally scheduled classes, that you choose to practice on your own or with peers.  The Learning Laboratory faculty is available to assist you.  View the Learning Laboratory schedule before calling or emailing your request.

Student Referrals

Students are referred by course faculty for assistance with specific skills.  The course faculty will develop the objectives for the session, identify specific problem areas and describe expectations of how the procedure is to be performed.  These specifics will be discussed with the student and the Learning Laboratory faculty before the referral appointment.

Reserve Reading Material

Reserve Reading Materials are course specific and accessible via the Sinclair Library Circulation Counter on the Third Floor.  The loan period for each document is established by each course faculty and varies from two hours to two days.

Open Reserve materials are shelved at Sinclair Library’s Reserve Book Room study area to the left of the entrance of the library.  Please check your course syllabus for list of required readings and specific location.

Reserve Video Tapes

Video tapes that are held on reserve for various courses are available for viewing at the Wong Audiovisual Center at Sinclair Library.  Other course specific tapes are kept in the Learning Laboratory Information Office in Webster 309G.  Please see the Learning Laboratory Faculty.

Learning Lab Safety Guide

This safety guide includes general safety, biohazard, evacuation and emergency procedures for this laboratory.  Our aim is to assure a safe and healthy environment for learning.

Training for Bloodborn Pathogen Standards

Faculty who teach and students who are enrolled in N330, N331, N370, N470 and N612 may have contact with biological agents, blood and other potentially infectious materials in the Learning Laboratory.  In compliance with OSHA regulations, they must undergo Bloodborne Pathogens Training.  Noncompliance will result in delay or cancellation of the scheduled laboratory session.

Biological Agents and Bloodborne Pathogens Standard Exposure Control Plan Within the Learning Laboratory

This plan was developed to eliminate or minimize faculty and student exposure to biological agents, blood, or other potentially infectious materials. It describes work practice controls as hand washing facilities, disposal of sharps, and use of personal protective equipment as gowns, gloves, and shields.  Noteworthy are protocols for what to do should you be exposed.  Please refer to the Learning Laboratory Safety Guide for clean-up procedures.

Instructions for Charging NiCAD Batteries for Oto/Opthalmoscopes

The handles of the Oto/Opthalmoscopes house rechargeable NiCAD batteries that may need to be recharged during the time they are on loan.  A completely charged Oto/Opthalmoscope battery emits a clear white light.  Recharge the battery when it emits a weak yellow glow.  Do not wait until the battery is completely dead.
