Clinical Area of Focus: family/pediatric nurse practitioner
I’m a transplanted New Yorker and a recent Retiree from the US Navy Nurse Corps. I enjoyed the military lifestyle and military nursing for 34 years & 3 altercations (Vietnam, Desert Storm and Iraq) before deciding to finally settle in our home of Hawaii. Joining UH in August 2005, I have taught research to the undergraduates and am currently focused on the nurse practitioner clinical track. My research has been focused on deployment and resiliency in families, specifically those in the Navy. My new focus will be looking at the US Army and reserves for their resiliency during the reunification process after long deployments to the war zone. I was awarded a Seed Grant from UH and received a 2 year Tri Service Research Grant to study: “The Impact of Reunification on Soldier Families – A Longitudinal Study” in the amount of $450,000 in July 2006.
