MEPN Admission Requirements

APPLICATION OPENS: OCTOBER 1, 2012 (subject to change)

The Graduate Division begins processing applications starting on October 1. Please do not submit applications before October 1. The MEPN office is not responsible for any application or documents submitted before October 1.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: JANUARY 4, 2013 (subject to change)

All material submitted by either the applicant or any third party must be received by the appropriate office on or before the deadline.

Any necessary item received after the deadline will deem the entire application late.  Applications missing necessary items will be deemed incomplete.  Items sent to an inappropriate office may be lost.  Any lost items routed to and received by the appropriate office after the deadline will be considered late.  Any late or incomplete application may or may not be considered at the sole discretion of the admissions committee

Requirements for Entry:

  1. A complete baccalaureate degree in any non-nursing field from an accredited institution by July 15th of the year admitted the program
  2. A minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0
  3. Completed the prerequisite courses by July 15th prior to Fall admission. If you are taking courses after your application has been submitted, please send in a copy of the course registration as soon as you have registered.
  4. Be admitted to both the Graduate Division AND the Department of Nursing MEPN program.

1. Graduate School Application  (complete and pay fee online)

  • Create an Account
  • Select a campus "University of Hawaii-Graduate Division"
  • Select entering semester (e.g. Fall 2010)
  • Select graduate program "Nursing-MS"
  • Complete Supplemental Information if necessary (e.g. international student, residency, etc.)

2. Official Transcripts

Transcripts must be sent to the Graduate Admission Office directly from the issuing institution(s), or in sealed institutional envelopes if submitted with the application.

Any UH Transcripts will be obtained on behalf of applicants at no charge.

  1. Department of Nursing Master's Entry Program in Nursing application
  2. Current Resume or Curriculum Vita
  3. Goal Statement (500 words or less)
  4. TWO Letters of recommendation from a professional colleague (i.e. faculty member or supervisor).
  5. YouTube video (details soon avaliable)

At the time of application, you will be asked to select a specialty area which will largely determine your future as an advanced practice nurse. This is a critical decision and should be made with great care as you will not be allowed to change once you have been admitted to a given specialty

NOTE: We do not require the GRE
