MEPN Admission Requirements

To be admitted, applicants must meet the requirements of both the Graduate Division and the Department of Nursing's Graduate Admission Committee.

Fall 2009 Deadline

The University of Hawaii School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene (SONDH) MEPN program is pleased to announce the application deadlines for the 2009 Fall Semester.  The application period will be from October 1, 2008 to February 1, 2009.  Please note the following time line and adhere to the dates.  Applications received before the application period will not be accepted.

October 1, 2008- February 1, 2009   MEPN FALL 2009 APPLICATION PERIOD

January 1, 2009-Final Deadline for Graduate Division application and materials

February 1, 2009-Final Deadline for SONDH MEPN application and materials

 **Please note that, the MEPN dates differ from the regular graduate program deadlines.

Department of Nursing Requirements

  1. A baccalaureate degree in a field other than nursing from an accredited institution
  2. A minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0
  3. Completion of prerequisite courses by the time of application
  4. Completion of GRE exam
  5. As part of the application process, those who are advanced to the interview phase will be interviewed by the Program Specialty Advisor and Interview Committee.  Those applicants will be contacted for an interview following the review of all other requirements.

  2. GRE scores should be sent directly to the Graduate Admission Office.  The Educational Testing Service (ETS) code for the University of Hawaii Manoa is 4867.

  1. Graduate School Application

    -Create an Account
    -Select a campus "University of Hawaii-Graduate Division"
    -Select entering semester (e.g. Fall 2009)
    -Select graduate program "Nursing-MS Fall 2009 MEPN only applicants"
    -Complete Supplemental Information if necessary (e.g. international student, residency, etc.)

  2. Official Transcripts

    Completed applications are first screened by the Graduate Division Admission Office.  Only applications of those who meet the minimum requirements are forwarded to the Department of Nursing for a comprehensive review by the school's graduate faculty.  The school then makes a recommendation to the Graduate Division to either accept or deny admission.

    Applicants are required to submit one current official transcript from each post-secondary institution attended, including any study abroad or exchange program, summer programs, and non-degree work and extension programs.

    Transcripts must be sent to the Graduate Admission Office directly from the issuing institution(s), or in sealed institutional envelopes if submitted with the application.

    UH Transcripts
    Transcripts are not required for course work completed at any of the UH campuses. The Graduate Admission Office will obtain UH transcripts on behalf of applicants. 

  3. Original copy of GRE scores

    Official GRE scores must be sent directly to the Graduate Admission Office.  The Educational Testing Service (ETS) code for the University of Hawaii Manoa is 4867.

    GRE scores must be no more than five years old.  Students who have taken the GRE more than five years ago regardless of the number of degrees they have obtained (Bachelors or Masters degrees) must retake the GRE exam.
