BS in Nursing Program:
Pre-nursing advising is available from the Manoa Advising Center, located in the Queen Liliuokalani Center for Student Services, Room 101. For more information on their office hours, you may call them at 808.956.7273.
Masters Entry Program in Nursing (MEPN):
The deadline to submit a completed application for the MEPN program is February 1st.
RN to Master of Science Program (with Non-Nursing Baccalaureate):
The RN with baccalaureate degree program is offered for registered nurses (RN) who are graduates of an Associate Degree or Diploma program and have a baccalaureate degree in an area other than nursing. The admission requirements are the same as those for the MS program, however, a student must also take (or have successfully already completed) the following courses:
NURS 441 (Research), NURS 439 (Management), NURS 471/L (Community Health) and FSHN 475 (Nutrition).
Master of Science Programs:
Admission requires an applicant to submit applications to TWO offices. One office being the Graduate Division and the other being the Office of Student Services in Nursing.
Application processing timeframe:
Processing of applications BEGINS on October 1 for both the Graduate Division and the Department of Nusing. Please do NOT submit documents prior to October 1.
The deadline for submitting a completed application for the MS program is March 1. We strongly recommend that you submit all materials by February 1 to allow time for the Graduate Admissions office to review and evaluate your transcripts.
We offer an MS degree in the following specialty areas: Nursing Administration, Nursing Administration with an MBA, Community and Public Health Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner, Adult Nurse Practitioner, Geriatric Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Nursing Education, Adult Psych/Mental Health, Child-Adolescent Psych/Mental, Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist, Master's Entry Program in Nursing.
PhD Program:
Admissions to the PhD program also requires an applicant to submit applications to TWO offices. One office being the Graduate Division and the other office being the Student Services Office in Nursing.

Master's and PhD Application Documents Required:
You need to submit the following documents to the Graduate Division:
1. Their application
2. Their application fee
3. All official transcripts
AND you need to also submit the following documents to the School of Nursing and Dental Hygiene, Office of Student Services, Webster Hall, room 201:
1. Department of Nursing Application
2. Two reference letters or forms (for the PhD program submit instead a list of three references)
3. Copy of your HI state Nursing license (for the PhD program submit a copy of your current Nursing license, it does not have to be a Hawaii State license)
4. Current Resume
5. Writing sample (for the PhD program it is a scholarly paper)
After all of the application materials listed above have been received, you will be contacted for the interview. Please do not contact us for the interviews. Only students with completed applications will be contacted for the interview .
Graduate Students
To accommodate potential applicants to the MS or PhD graduate programs, individual information session are available upon request. The admission process, academic requirements, and nursing curriculum will be discussed during these sessions. Potential applicants to the MEPN program, Master's Entry Program in Nursing, should contact that program directly.
The Nursing Education master’s degree program is being developed as a “distance education” program. For the coming year the Fall and Spring courses are already designed to be delivered via Laulima (on-line). Although some of the courses may also have an “in-class” component they can be delivered to our neighbor islands.
